Student Empowerment Theatre

Overview

This seminar will introduce a programme organised by Edution Network and co-organised by the Department of Literature and Culture of the Hong Kong University of Education and the Luk Kwok Kuen Foundation for the Study of the Transmission of Chinese Culture.

The programme is designed to explore Chinese history and culture from different perspectives and in different ways through diversified experiences. The eight-month training comprises four core modules, namely the History Skills Module, the Greater Bay Area History Lecture Module, the Guided Heritage Tour Module and the Mainland Study Tour, as well as the Curatorial Module. The programme aims to develop trainees' professional knowledge and skills in history, culture and curatorship, as well as to nurture their interest in history and cultural issues. This is the second year of the programme, which attracted a total of 90 secondary schools in Hong Kong to apply. A total of 76 students from Form 2 to Form 4 in 30 schools were selected to participate in the eight-month history and culture learning programme. In addition, 25 schools competed for the 'Award for Promoting Chinese Culture in Schools' by promoting Chinese culture and intangible cultural heritage in their schools, with a total of 140 participants.

Participants of this seminar will understand:
1. how cultivate students' historical skills via learning programme; and
2. how to promote inter-institutional co-operation between universities and secondary schools through inter-school collaboration
