Develop Students' Problem-solving Skills and Cultivate Positive Values and Attitudes through Gerontech Learning Activities

InnoSTEMer

Overview

This school's STEAM curriculum integrates cutting-edge pedagogical approaches to foster a dynamic learning environment that stimulates student engagement and innovation. Through a holistic approach that combines in-class and extracurricular activities, we emphasise values education and cultivate a school-based design thinking framework to enhance our STEAM curriculum.

The following are the key highlights of this curriculum that we will be showcase in this seminar:
1. Promotion of Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: The curriculum promotes cross-disciplinary collaboration to enrich students' learning experiences by integrating subjects and activities to optimise STEAM education.
2. Innovative Curriculum Design: backward curriculum design and scaffolding design are emphasised to tailor STEAM learning activities to diverse student needs, fostering self-directed learning and enhancing problem-solving skills.
3. Real-Life Contexts and Personal Significance: Using real-life contexts, the curriculum connects with students on a personal level, inspiring a sense of personal learning significance and boosting motivation.
4. Empowering Teachers: educators were equipped with tools such as backward curriculum design and scaffolding design to plan and optimise STEAM activities, creating a stimulating learning environment.
5. Focus on Gerontechnology: integrated cross-subject collaboration, cross-group cooperation, and school-based design thinking training were emphasised via introducing the S2 'Gerontechnology' curriculum

Through our innovative teaching methods and focus on practical application, the speaker’s team aims to ignite students' passion for learning, develop their critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and nurture a culture of collaboration and communication.

Join us at our lectures to explore how our curriculum can inspire and engage both educators and students alike.
