School-wide Interdisciplinary Implementation of ‘Life Education’ Value Learning Curriculum

Innovation Classroom

Overview

As the academic community attaches great importance to life education, many schools have implemented life education courses. However, for students with intellectual disabilities, if teachers use traditional methods such as ppts and worksheets to teach ‘life education’ topics, the result is not quite satisfactory. In view of this, the school has optimised some hardware facilities in recent years and implemented life education module learning in various subjects. For example: in the language learning subject, reading and understanding books about life in the school insect library; in the mathematics subject measuring the animal’s diet; in the general knowledge subject learning about the characteristics of insects and finally making a smart insect box in the STEAM learning area class, with students designing the appearance. In addition, students will also learn how to correctly search for insect information and create Augmented Reality (AR) techniques in the computer lesson.

Students are asked to create their own AR books and then share them at the venue.
The school has also established ‘Insect Ambassadors’, whose responsibilities are to learn the skills of caring for insects, and then take the initiative to take care of insects for a long time, thereby learning the values of respect for life, perseverance, responsibility and benevolence.

In this open lesson, participants can learn about the school examples of implementing the Life Education module in various subjects. In addition, participants will also have the opportunity to use Micro:bit programming to build a smart insect house for insects that can automatically adjust the temperature.
