Yew Chung Approach to Early Childhood Education

Overview

YCCECE is founded in 2018 by the Yew Chung Education Foundation (YCEF), an established non-profit Association in Hong Kong with more than 90 years of pioneering history in Early Childhood and international education. To this date, it has brought the pedagogy to undergraduate teacher training programmes. Through its development and practice, Yew Chung has led the field of Early Childhood Education by introducing  The Yew Chung Approach to Early Childhood Education. 
 
In recent years, research teams have delved into the actualisation of Yew Chung Early Childhood in classrooms through in-depth observations and studies and recently published The Yew Chung Approach to Early Childhood Education Chinese translated versions, following the debut of the English versions.  This teaching approach has now been adopted in schools in Hong Kong, the mainland and overseas. 
 
Participants of this seminar will understand:
1. an effective teaching approach is not built on one Day like Rome, but emerges through practices and research;
2. an effective teaching approach arises from its specific cultural context while also drawing insights and finds from external experiences and studies; and
3. a teaching approach that integrates the Confucian thinking and the western progressivism, and how the implementation of this approach can bring benefits to children’s growth.
