Building a Prosperous Future for Our Children through a Digital Platform

Overview

Parents have strong desire for parenting information, but the available information is scattered and not in an easily accessible location. It is difficult for parents to obtain reliable and fruitful information amidst their busy lives. This seminar will discuss how a digital platform can help create an information sharing platform, with the Education Bureau’s structured, comprehensive, and professional parent education curriculum frameworks for secondary and primary schools as well as kindergarten as the main axis, bringing together constructive information scattered across different government departments and non-governmental organisations. Parenting information and available social support are integrated on the same platform with input from academia, professionals and parents, so that parents and schools can benefit, and it will also promote home-school co-operation to build a prosperous tomorrow for children.

ALO Parenting Education Platform was established in 2021. ALO is committed to making good use of digital technology to establish a digital platform for sharing parenting information and serving as a bridge to facilitate home-school co-operation. Since its launch, it has been widely supported by the academia, the social welfare sector and different government departments, with a cumulative number of subscribers of more than 30 000 parents and teachers covering more than 100 kindergartens, primary schools and special schools. Looking forward, we hope to make use of the advanced technology to promote parenting education. With the joint efforts of home and school, parents can enjoy the parenting process, cultivate children's healthy growth to achieve the best, and build a better Hong Kong.

Participants of this seminar will understand:
1. the importance of knowledge of positive parenting;
2. what proper parenting education should be by introducing the comprehensive Education Bureau Parent Education Curriculum Frameworks; and
3. the power of a dedicated Digital Parent Education Platform such as ALO.
