Taking Root Together: A Practical Case of Cross-regional Integration of Culture and Education

Overview

This seminar focuses on the 'Taking Root Together' youth fruit and vegetable planting project jointly promoted by the Hong Kong Education Bureau and three schools in two regions. The project integrates an innovative teaching model of cross-regional culture and ubiquitous learning. In the process of planting with their own hands, students not only master agricultural knowledge but also deeply experience and understand Chinese culture, enhancing cultural identity. This activity effectively cultivates students' communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, providing practical cases and valuable experience for national education in the context of globalisation.　

The 'Taking Root Together' project fosters students' interest in biological sciences and enhances their practical skills through cross-regional collaborative planting activities. By utilising an online platform to document and share their planting experiences, students have strengthened their observational, communication, and teamwork abilities. The project deepens the identification with Chinese culture and cultivates a sense of responsibility and empathy among students, providing innovative practical examples for national education.　

Participants of this seminar will enhance:
1. Cultural Understanding and Heritage: Participants will understand how to deepen their comprehension and affinity for Chinese culture through practical activities, recognising its significance for student' personal development;
